Review to: Siege and Storm

English:

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.
The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her--or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

The book is a great sequel!
I liked how Bardugo described first how Alina and Mal made a life in a foreign country and then how the Darkling came to get her.
I also liked the new characters which were introduced in this book.
The only character I didn´t like was Alina. She was annoying me so much in this book. With her hunger for more power and her obsession with finding the Firebird... Goood, it was annoying!
But the book still had great elements and especially in the ending there was a lot of suspense! The ending and the beginning were the parts of the book I liked the most. The middle wasn´t thaat great...
But some parts of the book were so sad... When characters died you didn´t even kno you liked them so much!
Also the new powers of the Darkling are awesome! There´s a brand new connection between him and Alina now.
And I still ship them.

Deutsch:

Review to: Ruin and Rising

English:

The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne. Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as Alina begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction - but claiming it could cost Alina the very future she is fighting for.

The last installment in the Grisha trilogy is a lot better than the second book.
Alina found refuge at the priests hiding place and is now waiting for her chance to break out.
So we already have a lot of suspense at the beginning of the book.
Alina is still after the firebird, and during her hunt for it she founds some long lost friends.
And of course the Darkling shows up here too. But Alina discovered by now how to use the bit of the Darklings powers she got during their kiss in the second book and I have to say his surprise is great described.
We also get to know the Darklings name in this book and that Alina doesn´t truly hate him. If he eouldn´t be the villain of the story they might very well be a couple.
There are some sad deaths in this book too even before the final battle between Alina and The Darkling.
And the end of this book is a real surprise. But not really the end I would have wished for.
A great plot, great characters and I still ship Alina and the Darkling.
And I always will.

Deutsch:

Review to: Shadow and Bone

English:

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.
Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.
Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

When I started the book it was a bit confusing on the first pages because I knew nothing about the Grisha. But the author explained everything so I understood it fast.
The book is well - written and I like the characters. Their all very different what made the book so interesting.
I also liked how Bardugo explained Alinas inner conflict after she found out about her powers. Knowing she was Grisha but not quite believing it.
But it seemed that she forgot about a few things too soon.
The world is well described but it took me almost the whole book to get what the Shadow Fold is (I read it as an e-book so I didn´t know the decriptions from the back of the book)
I still have a hard time of imagining the Shadow Fold.
A character I really adore is the Darkling! I still ship him and Alina! They would have made a good couple!
So I´m really into the Grisha fandom now and I wish I could say more aout the book but I didn´t write this review immediately...

Deutsch:

Review to: Red Queen (Die rote Königin)

English:

This is a world divided by blood - red or silver.
The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.
That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.
Fearful of Mare's potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.
But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance - Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart . . .

This book is different. It holds cruelty without supporting it and shows the world as it really is. Just in a fictional world.
Mare Barrow, the main character, is different from all other characters I´ve read about. She loves her family but also sees their bad sides and is really annoyed by them for disliking what she does to help the family.
Until the day where discovers that she´s different and gets betrothed to one of the two silver princes.
There is kind of a love story in the book but it´s not the main plot. Actually, the love story is just a little tiny thing.
So Mare is doing some really stupid things in the like joining the Scarlet Guard but she is also brave and you can see how much she loves her family and friends and that she is willing to risk her life for a change.
The ending of the book was unexpected... Aveyard lead me all the time on a wrong track and het writing style is great!
I also liked that she included the title in the book. I also like the simplicity of the title. It´s only two words but they describe the whole book.
Also she described the characters, they went through changes and the book wasn´t hurried.
The only thing I didn´t like was that in the end everything went so fast. I wasn´t able to understand everything.
But it is a geat book and I´m looking forward to reading the sequel!

Deutsch:
